Gentle Yoga focuses on joint flexibility, balance, stretching and breath work. It is far less strenuous than other classes and is perfect for beginners, for those with physical limitations, for those in poor physical condition, for the over 50 crowd, for women who are pregnant and for those recovering from injury. Gentle Yoga is a relaxing workout that relieves stress and anxiety. It is a class that leaves you feeling flexible, relaxed and refreshed. It is also the stepping stone to the more physically vigorous Yoga Flow and Power Yoga classes.

Yoga Flow synchronizes the motions of moving from pose to pose with the body’s breath. The goal is to have a sustained physical work out that is not necessarily all that strenuous (except for the weak). The smooth flowing nature of the practice with proper inhalation and exhalation is almost dance-like the most famous being the Sun Salutation. For full benefit of the practice students need to be familiar with the poses and the proper alignment attached to them. Your teacher will guide you on this journey.

Power Yoga is a vigorous, energetic fitness-based practice. It does not necessarily follow a particular sequence of poses and quite often incorporates calisthenics and light dumb bells into the practice. It emphasizes core strength, muscular flexibility, balance, cardio and physical and mental stamina all in one practice. Be prepared to work hard and sweat – sweat a lot. As your body adapts, the teacher will modify, intensify and speed up the process to make it more challenging. No more ugly fat – take it off and keep it off.

Traditional eastern classic yoga offers the opportunity to invigorate and rejuvenate the body to reach peak physical and mental health. Classical Yoga training revitalizes the body on all levels including the muscles, blood circulation, skeletal structure, nervous system, immunity system and the energy system. It takes years off the body by transmitting energy from mind to body bringing a sense of lightness and freedom.

Energy flows through the human system along thousands of pathways. Along these pathways are little storehouses of energy called nadis. They usually reside around the joints. Classical yoga, through particular postures and movements subtly manipulates the energy in a particular direction creating a heightened sense of alertness and focus. By consciously getting the body into certain postures, you are consciously directing your energies into a place of wellbeing, healthfulness and blissfulness.

This 5000 year old classical East Indian Hatha Yoga System is a physical science that emanated from an in-depth understanding of how certain body positions (yogic postures / asanas) affect the mechanics of the body and enables it to reach and sustain a high dimension of energy. When coordinated with breathing techniques (pranayama), the body transforms itself into a fit flexible being with a sound, peaceful mind, free of stress. It can change how a person feels, thinks, and experiences life.

Coral Gables has been a “planned community” from its inception in the early 1920s. The city founders planned wide lush green streets and avenues that would wind throughout a residential city punctuated with Mediterranean architecture and historical landmarks. Large oak, banyan and palm trees were planted to provide a canopy of shade from Florida’s harsh sun. It is within the confines of this paradise that 1 on 1 Yoga calls home.
